Lourdeaux Counselling and Mediation
After graduate school I at first used several, well-known approaches to problems. But after thirteen years I have chosen Narrative Therapy because of its efficiency (2-6 meetings) and its practicality (problems viewed as external things to be investigated and understood). After each meeting I will mail you a summary letter with further questions so that, in the end, you can figure out exactly how a problem operates in your life. What's more, I also take the time to help you thicken story-lines of your values, hopes, and life commitments from past events. This approach has been successful with all types of problems, even in severe cases.
* Anxiety, depression, obsessions, compulsions * Misuse of pornography, sex, alcohol, or drugs * Couples (unproductive discussions) * Men (overwhelmed, pornography, relationships) * Women (relationships, abuse, anorexia) * Gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, trans-gender people * Abuse and trauma counselling (which includes bullying)

Consider the benefits of Narrative Therapy:
* In Narrative Therapy you take time to evaluate a problem's destructive effects, and then you investigate its precise ways of influencing your everyday life. After that, you can establish an alternative direction for your life, a direction based on positive past events. A much clearer sense of this direction arises from narrative-building conversations about your lived values, your special hopes, and your future intentions, as reflected in relationships with key influential people in your life.
* After each meeting I post a detailed, summary letter to you that sums up your new knowledge about the problem and offers further questions for investigation. People have always found these letters very useful.
* My place during our conversations is to be de-centered but influential. This means what counts most are not my questions but your new knowledge of the problem, your prior skills, and your core values. ________________________________________________________________________________

* My clinical experience and training is with individuals, couples, families, and groups.
* Narrative Therapy has helped people with problems that span the entire range of mental health.
* This approach has been successful even when the problem was acute and seemingly intractable. ________________________________________________________________________________
