I am a psychotherapist who helps adult and adolescent gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered clients who may be experiencing problems in your relationships, moods, self-esteem, identity confusion/problems and other difficulties. Help for parents of a glbt teen. I offer a warm, comfortable environment that enables my clients to feel safe in exploring and healing difficulties they are having in their lives.
I am a feminist therapist, which enables me to offer my clients an empowered, socially conscious therapy that is especially sensitive to the needs of women. I incorporate empowering feminist thought into treatment as appropriate. This is beneficial for males and females.
I am an adolescent specialist. A large part of my career (over 20 years) has been dedicated to the needs of teens and their families. I am a therapist you can bring a struggling adolescent to who has been unsuccessful or resistive to therapy in the past. Helping teens continues to be an extremely important part of my practice.
In addition, I am specially trained and considered an expert in treating traumatic stress disorders and difficulties caused by traumatic events. I help people who have had a history of child abuse, sexual trauma, victims of violent crimes, survivors of homicide/suicide, car accidents, or any type of traumatic event that you feel was traumatic for you. I use a variety of techniques to treat trauma symptoms. I have a lot of experience helping male and female survivors of sexual traumas. I accept California Victims Compensation.
I also work a lot wit grief and loss. If you have recently lost a loved one or pet, or are coping with the terminal illness of a person you love, I am skilled at helping you deal with these issues. There are also some deaths, such as suicide, suicide, or sudden traumatic deaths (car accidents, natural disasters, etc) that are especially difficult which require additional awareness and sensitivity. I have worked with many unique cases of death
In addition I have experience with people who have been abused by religious groups or cults, persons abused by polygamists, or who have been kidnapped. I am specially trained in the treatment of dissociative disorders and multiplicity.
I am able to accept payment through cash, check, money order, e-check, credit cards (Visa, MC, and Discover), and in some cases payment plans. I accept California's Victim's Compensation Fund. For clients who have PPO insurance, you will receive monthly statements which will have all the information you need to submit to your insurance plan. Please let me know if you plan to do this.
