Margaret Andem, LCSW
I provide individual, couples, family, and group therapy online, via phone, and in-person to children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly. My areas of experience include, but are not limited to, depression, bipolar disorder, mania, anxiety disorders, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social phobia, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, drug and alcohol, dually diagnosed, parenting issues, family issues, childhood issues, child and adolescent development, parenting, trauma, abuse, violence, posttraumatic stress disorder, loss/grief/bereavement, womens issues, relationship issues, identity issues, self-esteem issues, self-image issues, eating disorders, dependency, codependency, suicide, self-mutilation, anger management, stress management, time management, life skills, and work issues. As an African-American woman, a first generation Nigerian-American, and a single parent, I am especially sensitive to cultural issues of difference. My focus in working with clients is to help them gain and maintain control in their lives despite past or present issues, and to deal with those issues appropriately. To this end, I use a variety of theoretical approaches as suits the particular clients that she is working with, including cognitive-behavioral, family systems, structural, psychodynamic, solution-focused, supportive, and strategic.
