Forget for just a moment all the negative things you’ve heard that God said about you as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered. Forget about the abomination stuff. Forget about the non-acceptable to God stuff. For the moment forget all of this as you read through what scripture REALLY says about you.
John 3:16 states: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” No where in scripture is there an exclusion clause for any one! No exclusion for sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnic background, nation of origin, past experiences, addictions, high achievers, low achievers, self-righteous persons, religious, or hedonists. This is the most inclusive act ever accomplished since creation. Anyone who tells you any differently is attempting to lead you down a path of rejection and loneliness. JESUS IS THE REAL DEAL. Because of Him, each of us can live a perfectly acceptable life! NO EXCLUSIONS!
SO WHO IS JESUS?
He is your friend! He loves you just the way you are – gay, straight, bisexual or transgendered. He will not demand anything from you in exchange for His friendship. You don't have to do anything special to communicate with Him. There are no special rituals you need to perform to talk with Him. He will always be there for you, 24 hours a day, whenever you need Him. You will have His undivided attention at all times. No matter what you have to tell Him, no matter how bad it might be, He will not judge or condemn you. He will listen patiently to all that is in your heart. He will comfort you in your time of need. He will give you peace in times of trial. He will fill your heart when you are sad. He will forgive anything that you have done. He will heal your spirit, offering you peace when you are troubled.
DID JESUS SAY ANYTHING ABOUT HOMOSEXUALITY?
No! Jesus said nothing about homosexuality. The Bible really is an empty closet! Jesus said nothing about bisexuality, heterosexuality, or gender identity. He had lots to say about love, forgiveness, loving God, loving each other, and accepting the love that God has in store for each of us. If we believe the words of Jesus from John 3:16, we can be assured that there is no “condemnation” for any who believe. Galatians 3:26-28 tells us: “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves in Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female (gay nor straight) for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Too many churches preach against homosexuality, telling us that we are unacceptable, that homosexuality is a sin and we must change who we are before God will accept us. Too many GLBT persons have bought into that lie and have damaged themselves by either trying to change who they are or by becoming so self indulgent that any love or reverence for God has been pushed aside. We don’t have to buy into the lie anymore! The truth of Who we are BECAUSE of what the REAL JESUS has done for us is the light that guides our way. True love, true intimacy, true acceptance, and true forgiveness forever is ours through faith in Him who first loved us! WHAT ARE OUR SERVICES LIKE?
Walk into the doors of SpiritSong for the first time and you’d think you have been here before…you will be welcomed heartily as if people already knew you and were happy to see you again. We ARE happy to see you, and want you to feel welcome and at home in this fellowship of Christian faith.
We are a high-energy group of Christians who worship together here in Ortley Beach, NJ. We come together to worship God as a family and to thank Jesus Christ for coming into our lives and changing us from within. Our Sunday services reflect our love for God as we sing LOTS of songs. While we are contemporary in flair overall in our musical and worship style, we value our diverse traditions, liturgies and spiritual heritage and attempt to include them periodically throughout our services.
Pastor D delivers pertinent and challenging messages each week. She listens to God and seeks to help and direct us all in our every day lives, always encouraging us to keep our eyes on Jesus and to walk the way He would want us to walk. Our services are “spiced” up each week by our multimedia presentations. The Word of God, thought provoking videos, and beautiful background scenes during our singing are displayed on wide screen.
Following service each week is a wonderful time of fellowship with refreshments and snacks. We take seriously the “call” to “Love one another,” and spend this time meeting new folks, listening, getting to know one another, and perhaps just hanging out with old and new friends.
