A festival of new GLBT plays and musicals, MAY 15, 2008 – JUNE 15, 2008. Visit our website at www.GAYFESTNYC.com
The second annual GAYFEST NYC, produced by Bruce Robert Harris and Jack W. Batman, takes place May 15 - June 15, 2008 at the TBG Arts Center, 312 West 36th Street in New York. Due to the overwhelming success of the inaugural event, GAYFEST NYC – 2008 has been extended to five weeks.
The not-for-profit GAYFEST NYC – 2008 will feature six fully produced Main Stage and Studio Theatre productions featuring Actors' Equity Association casts and a Broadway-caliber creative staff. This year's Festival will include talk-backs with the authors and appearances by celebrated members of the LGBT community. Each of the six productions will present a major new work by a gay author or will spotlight gay-friendly subject matter, spanning a range of genres from hard-hitting dramas to jewel box musicals.
All profits through specialized fundraising efforts are used to provide scholarships and after school programs for students of The Harvey Milk High School in New York City. Founded in 1985 in collaboration with the New York City Department of Education, 'The Harvey Milk High School' is a fully-accredited, inclusive, voluntary public high school focusing on the educational needs of children who are in crisis or at risk of physical violence and/or emotional harm.
On April 14, GAYFEST NYC – 2008 will be hosting a major fundraising event to kick off its publicity campaign. The evening's entertainment will consist of a performance by an award-winning GLBT theatrical personality and will be held in a prominent Off-Broadway theatre, with a reception to follow. All profits will benefit the Harvey Milk High School.
