Originally founded in 1989 by local icon, Trevor Hailey, "Cruisin' the Castro Tours", continues to educate, entertain and empower visitors from around the globe with the rich and colorful history of San Francisco and the Castro neighborhood.
Join Owner and Tour Guide, Kathy Amendola, explore how San Francisco's infamous past created one of the world's most sexually diversified communities, the Castro, known as the "heart & soul" of the Gay & Lesbian culture.
All tours are incredibly informative and easy! Public walkways and/or transportation are wheelchair accessible.

The "Historical Tour", entails San Francisco's sordid past and quest for sexual freedom from the Gold Rush thru the 20th century. Learn about Harvey Milk's arrival during the "Summer of Love", his migration to the Castro bringing a sexually diverse culture to a home and his political perseverance for equality as a basic human right.
Also discover many iconic landmarks such as the birthplace of the Rainbow Flag, the original site of the AIDS Quilt, Twin Peaks Tavern, and the Castro Theatre, (where the world premiere of the movie "MILK", starring Sean Penn opened on October 26, 2008).

In memory of the 30th anniversary of the death of Supervisor, Harvey Milk, the "Harvey Milk Tour", begins with Harvey's immense presence in the Castro community moving on to his political progress at City Hall by becoming the first openly gay politician in the state of California in November 1977. Tour explores both the Castro neighborhood and the beautiful City Hall, where Harvey served and met his untimely death on November 27, 1978.
Also included in the tour is the new and exciting Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual & Transgender Historical Society's "Castro Exhibit", that will feature both GLBT history as well as, Harvey Milk.
